Seasonal Safety Tips

Daylight Savings Time - This is an easy way of remembering to change the batteries in your smoke detector. Batteries should be changed twice a year to assure that your smoke detector will be ready to work if you have a fire. You should check your smoke detector monthly, even if it has new batteries.

SPRING

Mowing grasses while they are small and conditions aren’t as dry, pruning trees to assure access and visibility of structures, fire access roads, street signs, addresses, and fire hydrant.

SUMMER

Wildfire Prevention, Drowning prevention tips, really emphasize defensible space.

FALL

Keeping leaves off roof and out of gutters, assuring all drains are clear of debris, flood and swift water safety, chimney safety tips, removing dead limbs from trees, storing firewood at least 30 feet from the residence.

WINTER

Rules as far as permissive Burn Permits, recreational fire laws and safety tips.
