It is with heavy hearts that we announce the recent passing of former Tracy Rural Fire Protection District Fire Chief Gene LeBlanc on December 12, 2021. Chief LeBlanc served as the Fire Chief from 1990 until his retirement in 1999. Among his many accomplishments, he is credited with modernizing the rural fire district. Chief LeBlanc was well respected and instrumental in forming the original South County Fire Authority. His leadership and vision ensured sustainable fire protection in southern San Joaquin County. Prior to joining Tracy Rural Fire, he served as the Fire Chief of the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (Nevada). His son John currently serves as a Fire Captain with South County Fire and we would like to express our sincere condolences to John and his family. Thank you for your service.
